Also known as bathtub refinishing or resurfacing, bathtub reglazing is the process of restoring a worn or damaged tub to like-new condition. The process typically involves repairing chips or cracks, thoroughly prepping the surface, and applying a durable new finish.

Process

Clean bathtub and remove caulking.

Vacuum bathtub.

Mask around the bathtub and cover areas not to be refinished.

Cover or remove fixtures and overflow cover.

Lightly sand entire bathtub.

Fill chipped, scratched, or worn areas, then sand smooth.

Put down drop-cloths and covers over cabinets, sinks, fixtures, toilet, etc.

Spray-paint up to 3 coats of a primer; let dry.

Between 3-4 layers of top coat mixture are spray-painted on bathtubs or tiles.
